  • THOLKALAI SILAMBAM, an ancient and traditional martial art, was inaugurated in Coimbatore in the year of 2013.
  • THOLKALAI SILAMBAM was launched in Coimbatore by SHRI VENBA.M. THOLKAPPIYAN, M.SC, B. ED and MR.E. ARUMUGAM MSW.
  • We have been conducting regular classes in various places.
  • The Silambam practices was not only based on sticks also includes more weapons like surul, sword, eeti (tl), chedi kutchi, maan kombu, kuthu varisai, alangara paadam and so on.
  • We also conducting free camps for orphanage students.
  • Both indoor and outdoor facilities are available for practice.
  • More than 600 plus students have been taken part as of now.
  • 100 plus students were placed in district level competition.
  • Also Conducted various government recognized Awareness Program.
  • More than 40 plus members are eligible for the 3% sports quota recruitment in government departments and public sector undertakings.
  • We signed MOU with KGiSL Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, MJ Vincent school and so on.
  • There is no age limit for the participants in the Silambam training.
  • The training programs was focused on team building, group dynamic and physical confrontations.

Learn Something Every Day

        VENBA.M.THOLKAPPIYAN was born on 21.06.1994. He Belongs to Venbavur village, Veppanthattai taluk in Perambalur district.

        Shri Venba M. Tholkappian completed his under graduation in chemistry at PSG Arts College in Coimbatore. Later, he pursued his post-graduation at Kongunadu arts and Science College. B.Ed., in Nairs College of Education and currently persuading PhD in Chemistry also working as a Pg assistant.

        Shri Venba M. Tholkappiyan learned all the nuances and intricacies of silambam art from his mentor Dronachariyar T.A. ANGAPPA and A. Mohammad Ibrahim. He also placed in Cholan Book of world record, Indian book of record, Elite Book of World Records and Asian book of world record. In state level he is serving as a National referee (Tamilnadu Silambattam Association).

        More than 200 plus stage programs (Inter college competitions, social awareness-based programs and corporate events) was done by him. He worked as Silambam instructor at various institutions in Coimbatore. More than 12 years of experience in this field.

        Currently he is functioning as Silambam trainer in Kongunadu arts and science college, Coimbatore.

The main mission of THOLKALAI is to strive for propagation the age old traditional martial art to all people, irrespective of caste, creed, race and religion all people should be made to understand the greatness and ancientness of our millennium old art of silambam.

We make you to realize that Silambam is not only a workout but also helps you in body and mind sculpting. We can shun the western style of exercises, and we can bring our masses under the ambit of our traditional physical workouts style such as silambam through Tholkalai Silambam. We preserve our nation’s intangible culture, tradition and heritage to our future generation.
